Promoting Civic and History Education in our Schools and Communities!

Project Citizen

MCCHE is the Center for Civic Education’s state partner for the Project Citizen program. Project Citizen is a civic education program designed for elementary, middle, high school, and college students, as well as youth and adult groups. It takes a hands-on, real-world approach to spark interest and develop the skills needed for effective participation in local, state, and federal government.

The program actively involves participants in monitoring and shaping public policy. Working collaboratively, participants identify and research a community issue. Their final project is a portfolio, which they can present to other classes, groups, community organizations, or policymakers. Students have the opportunity to submit their portfolios to the National Showcase.
